Questions

Common questions

How are privacy scores made?

Overlight reads published privacy policies and applies the same scoring rules to each product. Scorecards link back to policy excerpts so you can check the evidence.

Do I need an account?

No. Search, public scorecards and rankings are free to explore without signing in. An account exists only to sync saved products across your devices.

Why can a product have no grade?

Overlight only shows a grade after a product is covered and its published privacy material has been processed.

Is an Overlight grade legal advice?

No. A grade is an opinion produced from the published rubric and a company’s own policy language.

Transparency

Privacy & Data principles

Explore without signing in

Public scorecards, rankings, and searches carry no identity. They are identical across all sessions and are never tracked to a user profile.

Mathematical & Evidence-backed

Every grade is calculated deterministically from a public scoring rubric. Every claim links to the exact quotation in the published legal text.

Our Own Privacy Policy

We grade ourselves using the exact same rubric. Read our Grade A scorecard.
